BNI ECHO COMPLETE THE GORDON WAY

On a dry (yes dry!!) Sunday morning in June nine intrepid BNI colleagues and family members, and one dog, made their way to Suie Car park to embark on the 11.5 mile Gordon Way walk.

Led by Ben, who took control over his owner Graham McWilliam, the group started strongly, managing to avoid the puddles that had collected during the previous day’s rain, but all too soon it became apparent that this was to be rather more challenging than some had expected.

Making good time the group successfully navigated the route eastward toward Bennachie, and the end point at the Bennachie Centre Car Park.  After a steep climb all took full advantage of the weather to appreciate the magnificent scenery that could be viewed all around.

The BNI Echo Walkers

Allan Milne was in-situ at the 5 mile point with a car load of refreshments, which were gratefully received by the group.  And then, refreshed and rested the group set off toward the finish line.

Following old peat extraction routes the group rounded the Bennachie range and made it to the 8 mile mark before the rain started.  Damp but not down the group continued along the walk and after 4 hours were rounding Bennachie and thinking about the soup awaiting them in Inverurie.

Everyone completed the walk in one piece, with tired legs and slightly more wet than hoped, but was a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

So who’s up for bagging a Munro now????
